Confession #21 - Hair

Hair.

Glorious hair.

For some, good hair is not only unattainable, but causes never-ending coveting of the hair of those who do have "the good hair".

If you have curly hair, you want straight.
If you have straight, you want it curly.
(Why can't we all just enjoy what we have?)

:o)

CONFESSION: I wanted to be a hair stylist.

I wanted to do impressive colorings.

I wanted to do sweet bridal up-dos, with stories and giggling.

I wanted to be a celebrity hair stylist, the one they all brag about.

It might come from my roots of having hair that kindof naturally looks like this.
(Thank you for your example, Stevie.)

But as I more seriously considered the profession, I became concerned.

I didn't want to end up with a crazy hair color, which seems a requirement when going through school.

Like the Coon Hair, which seems to be a trend right now.

Shudder.

Or this...

Rainbow hair.

What?

Yes, rainbow hair. Although... it does look pretty awesome.

I didn't want to end up with a hideous "experimental" hair cut either.

Like the wo-mullet.

(Why won't you die?)

Or weird hair extensions.

I also realized that I wasn't ready for a few things.

Like.....

Weird hair style requests.

Hair challenges.

And people requesting bad hair cuts that they think are a "great idea",
or people requesting a trim on their already bad hair cut.
I didn't want to think about being in trouble for cutting someone's hair differently than they requested.

("No, sir. I swear this is a modern mullet. They call it a crew cut.")

Not that I am opinionated, but I would like to consider myself merciful.

And so, for now, I will stick with day dreaming, and playing with my own hair.

Which is why - you now know - I am always doing something different with my hair.

Hairy, hairy, hair, hair.

Confession #20 - My Helper

My littlest helper - Logan!

Confession: Some days, I don't know what I'd do without my helper.

He could be helping in ways like bringing a bag up the stairs for me, so I can carry Eleanor.

Or pushing the stroller when my hands are full.

Or helping me with the laundry.

He especially loves to take care of his baby Eleanor.

He loves his sister.

He reads her stories.

He would help me out by feeding her when she was a baby.

He just always loves to help.

Yesterday, I saw him hold the door open for someone, and he's a little 4-year-old boy.

I love my little sweet hearted baby.

I especially love his help in the kitchen!

I love my helper.

Confession #19 - Messes & Kids

My kids love to get messy sometimes.

Confession: It took me a very long time to be ok with my kids getting messy.

I just don't know what it was, but there is something about them needing to stay clean that was so important!

Then I realized, I had the chance to have fun with my food as a kid, so really they need to have fun with their food as kids.

It was hard at first, but then I realized - what's the worst that could happen?

I'd have to wipe down another surface?

And now, my kids are happier - because they just get to be kids, and not be worrying about Mom wiping them all through their meals.

Cute messes.

Confession #18 - Eggs

Eggs.

Eggs are a food I really have to be in the mood for, to eat without gagging.

Confession: I love fried eggs, with a slightly runny yolk.

Mmmmm fried eggs remind me of my Dad, too.

Not too runny, just enough that when you put your fork in it, there is a little yolk.

- I know -

Gross? Maybe.

Delicious? YES.

Mmm, mm eggs.

Confession #17 - Drama King

Confession: I love my drama King, Logan.

(Eleanor calls him Wohdies or Wohdan.)

I love his random moods,
his silly faces,
his quirky comments,
and his deeply quizzical thoughts and the questions he asks that often leads to me letting him watch Bill Nye because he can better explain it.
(Like Logan's question about what keeps us stuck down to the planet - gravity - how do I explain that properly? Take it away Bill Nye!)

I love his insane genius memory ability,
his quotes,
the scenes he acts out in our living room,
the songs he performs for me,
the random hugs he gives me,
the gentleness he has with his sister,
the times he is shy,
and all the outrageous poses he wants to do for the camera.

I love his bright little smile,
his laid back personality,
his ability to love everyone regardless,
his tactless questions for everyone belonging to the human race,
his drama at the table over dinners he doesn't like,
and I even love it when he cries and dramatically throws himself onto the couch (or bed, or floor, or whatever is closest to him) and protests whatever request I just made.

It cracks me up that he taught Eleanor the "drama-fling" onto furniture.

Even cuter, is that she is only halfways up on everything she's trying to fling herself at.

Drama dude.

I love you.

Confession #16 - Bella Ella

Confession: I love having a girly girl.

My sweet little princess Eleanor.

I love her SO much.
Her pretty blonde curls, big blue eyes, she is the baby doll I played with as a little girl.

She cracks me up.
She's shy.
She's bossy.
She's smart.
She has attitude.
She loves her brother, Logan and wants to be just exactly like him,
only - Eleanor is competitive.

She also loves chocolate,
pink,
all things ruffles and lace,
shiny things,
jewelry,
diamonds,
makeup,
hair bows,
accessories,
dresses,
high heels,
pretty flowers,
puppies,
kitties,
babies,
and pretending to be a Mama.

She is my girly girl, and I love having a girly girl!!!

Because I love all those things too.

And, of course, her majesty is always getting her way.

Spoiled.

Love love love that girly girl.

Confession #15 - Michael

Confession: Michael Jackson is still the coolest!

I remember thinking Michael Jackson was so cool when I was a kid. I watched that video he did, I forget what it was called, but I remember thinking it was SO amazing. I think it had a dancing MJ bunny in it.

I always thought he was just a kid at heart. I think as a kid myself, and looking back, I just feel like I knew it.

Who wouldn't want to be a kid forever?

I still love fairytales and magical childish things, so I relate.

I loved Free Willy, and of course, the music!

Michael Jackson.

Still the coolest, ultimate, Pop King.

Confession #14 - The Temple

Confession: I love the temple.

I wish I had the money (and energy), and time, to go on a road trip across the USA and visit as many as I could.

"I love to see the temple, I'm going there someday - to feel the holy spirit, to listen and to pray.
For the temple is a house of God, a place of love and beauty.
I'll prepare myself while I am young - this is my sacred duty.

I love to see the temple, I'll go inside someday - I'll covenant with my Father, I'll promise to obey.
For the temple is a holy place where we are sealed together.
As a child of God I've learned this truth - a family is forever."

Temples hold special memories, experiences, and service that are vital, irreplaceable puzzle pieces to ourselves.

The Washington, D.C., USA temple - where I joined my forever family.

The Cardston, Alberta, Canada temple, where I first went with the youth of the church to do Baptisms for the Dead, and realized at a very young age how special the temples really are.

The Calgary, Alberta, Canada temple, where my mother (and many others) anxiously await it's completion. OH the more ease of having a temple in Calgary.

The Salt Lake, Utah, USA temple, where many saints died to make this temple possible. Hand carved, gently laid, and well planned. Showered in tears, horror, joy, and peace - this is a temple I hope to visit.

If you haven't watched the movie "The Mountain of the Lord", watch it now. And then come back and look at a picture of the Salt Lake temple.

The Nauvoo, Illinois, USA temple, to which I had the privilege of attending the dedication via satellite as a teenager. There was so much joy in it's completion, the room could have exploded.

The Manti, Utah, USA temple, where I went as part of a temple road trip with the rest of the girls and leaders from Young Women's when I was a teenager. I remember watching a play that was put on for a crowd of us on this hillside, but I was blown away by how absolutely gorgeous this temple is.

The Las Vegas, Nevada, USA temple, where I attended frequent youth trips with the YW/YM for Baptisms for the Dead, as well as the occasional trip with a friend of mine, who has since passed, making those moments even more priceless.

I learned a lot of lessons on those grounds.

The San Diego, California, USA temple, the very first temple that I thought was a fairytale castle when I was a kid. When I drew brides as a little girl, and day dreamed about my wedding, I would think about this temple in the background.

So pretty.

The Bountiful, Utah, USA temple, where I had the opportunity to attend the open house when I was a kid. I remember feeling the reverence and being in awe of the detail in every room, and the radiating peace from every corner.

The St. George, Utah, USA temple.

The Mesa, Arizona, USA temple.

The Manila, Phillipines temple.

I love to see the temple.

It truly is a wonderful place.
